Shelter Case Manager

YWCA Madison is also seeking candidates for a Shelter Case Manager for our Emergency Family Shelter program located in our downtown location. The Shelter Case Manager assists homeless families in finding housing and helps them overcome any barriers that may lead to future episodes of homelessness.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • MSW; or Master’s Degree in a related field with an additional year of related experience; or BSW with an additional year of related experience; or BS/BA in a related field with an additional 2 years of related experience.
  • Two years of experience in the following areas: case management, familiarity with housing issues and resources including knowledge of landlord/tenant law, working with homeless people and referring them to appropriate community resources, and advocacy.
  • Must be skilled in case management.
Relevant to the position:

The Shelter Case Manager will provide culturally inclusive, trauma informed programming and services and will incorporate best practice techniques into the programs.

Successful candidates for either position will:

  • Have knowledge of landlord/tenant law, low-income and subsidized housing programs, mental health, trauma, AODA, poverty issues and knowledge of resources available to low-income households.
  • Be detail-oriented with strong record-keeping skills
This is a salaried, 100% FTE position. The salary range is $35,000-$40,000. Excellent benefits package with generous paid time off. This position will work regular business hours, usually between 8:30 – 5:00.
