RACIAL JUSTICE WORKSHOP – SUMMER SERIES

November 26, December 3, and December 10, 2019

YWCA Madison offers this series of workshops as an opportunity to develop a foundational understanding the System of Racial Inequity in the context of the United States, and the impact it has at the interpersonal, institutional, and structural levels.

Through the development of this critical consciousness, we can also begin to build practices that interrupt the racial narrative of white supremacy and support personal and collective liberation grounded in equity.

All sessions will utilize multiple learning strategies, including interactive activities, facilitated discussion, and film screening.

The sessions are designed in a progressive way, and an integral component of the experience is the shared discussion’s participants have with fellow attendees. Although it’s possible to participate in just one or two of the sessions–if it’s possible for you–we recommend that you take all three sessions in succession in order to receive the full benefit of this format.

  • Understanding Othering and Belonging: Level 100—Tuesday, November 26, 2019
  • Deconstructing Racism: Level 200—Tuesday, December 3, 2019
  • The Impact of the System of Racial Inequity: Level 300—Tuesday, December 10, 2019

All sessions will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at YWCA Madison’s Empowerment Center located at 2040 S. Park Street. Purchased individually, each workshop is $100. Attend all three levels and save $50.

The register is now closed.

To be notified about future workshop dates or if you have additional questions, please email Libby Tucci.
