Housing Justice
YWCA Madison is committed to housing justice by providing a range of residential and community programs for individuals and families impacted by houselessness, housing instability, and unfair systemic housing practices. We believe that secure housing is a human right and an essential foundation for health, dignity, and fulfillment.
Through our Housing Justice programs, we provide holistic support for community members, including shelter, case management, family advocacy, tenant education, rental assistance, and community engagement.
Single Women’s Housing, Third Street, & Family Shelter
Residential Housing Justice Programs provide safe, supportive housing at our historic Downtown Residence.
Family Housing Stability, Steps to Stability,
& Rapid Rehousing
Community Housing Justice Programs help participants secure and maintain stable housing throughout the greater Madison area.
Enrichment & Adocacy for Youth and Families
At YWCA Madison, we practice a Housing First approach rooted in the belief that every person deserves safe, stable housing. Once housed, residents are better able to focus on other areas of their lives, such as employment, health, education, and family stability.
Our dedicated team provides wraparound case management and holistic support to help each resident achieve their goals.
The historic Downtown Residence is central to this work, offering safe and supportive housing for families, single women, and mothers with young children as they build toward long-term stability and self-sufficiency.
